La firma de moda Planet Palmer quiere que sus diseños se conviertan en prendas atemporales cuya señal de identidad sean los estampados creados específicamente para cada colección. Los tejidos de su segunda colección están plagados de chacales egipcios, esfinges, galaxias, manos en posturas misteriosas y todo un universo de símbolos capaces de introducirnos en el enigmático mundo de las Sociedades Secretas.
¿Quién hay detrás de Planet Palmer?
– Planet Palmer lo formamos tres socias: Isabel Fernández de Castro, encargada de la comunicación y Brianda Fitz-James Stuart y Ana Rodríguez, que son las diseñadoras. Las tres contamos con una extensa experiencia en nuestro respectivos sectores.
¿Cómo surgió vuestra colaboración?
– Brianda y Ana lo llevaban pensando desde que acabaron la carrera de moda, pero decidieron esperar y crearse un background profesional antes de lanzarse. Cuando lo tuvieron más o menos claro se lo propusieron a Isabel, que se animó meterse en el proyecto. Así se cerró el círculo (o el triángulo, como se quiera ver, jeje).
¿Por qué entre todas las referencias que seguramente os gustan elegisteis ‘Fantastic Planet‘ y ‘Twin Peacks‘ como representantes de Planet Palmer’?
– Estas cosas a veces son el resultado de una serie de casualidades… Somo muy fans tanto de la peli como de la serie de Lynch y, tras mucho buscar nombre, un día surgió esta amalgama y nos sonó fenomenal.
¿Cómo decidís sobre qué tema versará cada colección?
– Uff… Es difícil explicar un proceso que sigue tan pocas pautas fijas. A veces comenzamos con una ilustración que genera toda una serie de ideas, otras veces, con un concepto fijo. Nunca sabemos de dónde nos vendrá la siguiente temática..
¿Por qué las sociedades secretas?¿Cómo surgió la inspiración?
– En el caso de “Sociedades Secretas”, el tema surge a través de una afición friki como es seguir Cuarto Milenio. En su momento, Brianda ya había hecho una serie de ilustraciones que trataban sobre este tema para una exposición. Luego nos pareció una temática que tenía mucho más que dar y decidimos desarrollarlo para Planet Palmer.
¿Cuál es vuestra sociedad secreta favorita?
– No te lo podemos decir….
Buscando inspiración, ¿qué curiosidad sobre las sociedades secretas habéis descubierto?
– ¿Sabíais que tras muchos de los hechos históricos que cambiaron el rumbo de la historia se dicen que estaban diferentes sociedades secretas orquestándolo todo? Existen diferentes teorías conspiratorias apuntan a que, en realidad, el mundo tal y como lo conocemos ha estado siempre dirigido por estas organizaciones…
¿Cómo reinterpretasteis el tema en la sesión de fotos?
– Elena Gallén se unió a nosotras en la dirección de arte de la sesión y entre todas decidimos darle un aire un tanto místico e inquietante. Con referencias sutiles a ritos iniciáticos y a saludos secretos. El look de Brianda estaba claramente marcado por una larguísima peluca pelirroja que le confería un aire prerrafaelita…
En un desfile de Planet Palmer al que pudieseis invitar a cualquier personaje posible, ¿a quién invitaríais?
– Bueno, nosotras no desfilamos; por ahora consideramos que tenemos otras formas alternativas más adecuadas de mostrar nuestro trabajo. Pero si hubiera que elegir un personaje… ¡Groucho Marx conseguiría hacer de nuestro desfile un evento en condiciones!
¿Planeáis abrir tienda propia?
– ¡Sí, planeamos! Es un deseo a largo plazo, todavía nos queda un poquito de camino. Pero sí, una tienada-estudio sería increíble.
¿Cuál es el ambiente de trabajo ideal para vosotras?
– Las tres trabajando tranquilamente en el estudio, charlando e intercambiando ideas. Y riendo cada poco. ¡De las risas y del dejarse llevar han salido las mejores ideas!

– Toño Cabanelas, que ha sido nuestro dj en las dos presentaciones de Planet Plamer. Es un ingeniero de sonido, con un sensibildad increíble. Inventor, investigador, dj y compositor. Ha participado y dirigido muchísimos proyectos artísticos y tecnológicos para importantes firmas. Una persona de esas que siempre tiene algo interesante entre manos y que pone pasión en todo lo que hace.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old
daughter and said «You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.» She
put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
